Prof. Dr. Allamah Nasir al-Din Nasir Hunzai known as Baba-i Burushaski (father of Burushaski) is a highly acclaimed writer on Burushaski language. He was born in 1917 at Hyderabad, a small village of Hunza. Although Partaw shah (Prof.Dr. Allama Nasir al Din Nasir Hunzai ) got formal education only for one year , from his early childhood intuitionally inclined towards the esoteric meanings of universe & of faith.. when he was just 23 years old he started to write his well known poetry collection “ Diwan -i- Nasiri” and become the first sufi poet of Burushaski Language , His Diwan has been a source of inspiration for the followers of spiritualism. In 1940 Prof. Dr. Hunzai has developed Burushaski alphabets and added eight new letters to one of the most ancient languages of the world. The new alphabets are used to represent peculiar sounds of Burushaski language , using these alphabets He wrote books on Burushaski poetry , prose , vocabulary & grammar. Recently Burushaski Research Academy Pakistan the organization working under his guidance has published first Burushaski – Urdu dictionary, Prof. Dr Hunzai is a Sufi poet and writer. He has written numerous books on the topics of the Qur'an, Islam, Sufism, Isma'ilism .In his writings he is inspired by the teachings of Pir Nasir Khusraw . He writes in Urud , Burushaski, Persian & Turkish Language. Most of his books have been translated into English, French, Swedish, Persian, and Gujarati.Prof. Dr. Hunzai has also directly collaborated with Prof. Hermann Berger of Hidelberg University (Germany) as the co-author of the first Burushaski-German Dictionary and with Prof. Tiffou of Montreal University in the publication of "Hunza Proverbs The president of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan conferred upon Prof. Dr. Nasir al-Din Hunzai the award of Sitarah-i-Imtiyaz on 23 March 2001 in recognition of his outstanding service in the fields of literature and scholarship. He was awarded an honorary PhD degree by Senior University in Canada where Prof. Dr. Hunzai has been associated for a long time as a visiting professor. Prof. Dr. Alllamah Nair al din Nasir Hunzai is the chief patron and founder of following literary organizations: Burushaski Research Academy Pakistan (BRAP) The Burushaski Research Academy was established in 1982 in Hunza and Gilgit (Pakistan) and was later extended to Karachi and Islamabad. Its primary aim is the promotion, research and preservation of the Burushaski language, which is spoken in Hunza , Nagar & Yasin in Gilgit- Baltistan. Burushaski Research Academy has published several of (Baba-i Burushaski = The father of Burushaski)Prof. Dr. Allamah Nasir al- Din Nasir Hunzai . Danishgah-i Khanah-i Hikmat (DKH) DKH is a literary organization established by Allamah Nasir al-Din Nasir Hunzai originally under the name of Dar-ul Hikmah in Hunza, the northern areas of Pakistan, in early 1960s. The headquarters of this institution was relocated to Karachi in 1977 where the current name of Danishgah-i Khanah-i Hikmat was instituted. DKH is primarily engaged in the publication of the books written by Allamah Nasir al-Din Nasir Hunzai which relate to the esoteric philosophy of Islam in general, and that of Ismailism in particular. In addition, formal lectures are delivered regularly at various centers and students are assisted in researching into topics related to Qur'anic Science and Spiritual Wisdom. DKH has branches across the globe, with the key centers being in Karachi, Gilgit, London, Atlanta and Houston. Allamah Research Institute and Foundation (ARIF) ARIF was founded in Eastern Canada, in March 1978. Although initially setup to research into the life and works of its patron, its role has now expanded. Today, ARIF is also the international distribution channel for books published by DKH.
